Calendula, St. John's Wort and Chamomile have been esteemed for centuries for their wound healing properties and their action in preventing infection of wounds. Calendula and St. John's Wort are known as potent antiseptic agents while Chamomile promotes smooth, healthy skin and relieves irritations thanks to its anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties. Tagetes oil, the oil made from the Marigold plant, an herb that belongs in the same family as Calendula, is known for its antiseptic, antifungal and antibiotic qualities, and is therefore considered helpful in promoting healthy wound healing and has been known to reduce the chances of infection and sepsis. 

Our salves follow the Greek home remedy tradition of the olive oil-beeswax salve that the lady of the house used to make and keep handy in the home as an all-purpose healing salve. The olive oil nourishes and heals and the beeswax helps to create a barrier that locks in moisture.
