Lavender Keepsake Sachet

Made with hand harvested local North Idaho English lavender, 100% pure linen and wool darning thread, our lavender sachets are inspired by the Christian Greek Orthodox tradition of "phylachto". "Phylachto", a word that can be translated as "keepsake", is a cherished object, traditionally square, rectangular or triangular in shape, and usually made of fabric, containing holy church relics or blessed items. These keepsakes are small, sometimes as tiny as a thimble and are kept by the faithful as a blessing.

Our aromatic lavender sachets are filled with a mixture of lavender buds and rice and sewn shut by hand using woolen darning thread. A cross is sewn on one side and a handmade tassel, reminiscent of Greek traditional woven fabrics and clothes, hangs at the bottom. 

They come with a 100% cotton muslin drawstring bag bearing a hand-sewn cross on one side, where the sachet can be securely placed if you wish to take it with you on your travels or present it to a friend as a gift.

Ways you can enjoy these sachets:

• Tuck them in your drawers to lend a calming lavender scent to your clothes and linen.
• Keep one in its drawstring bag in your purse to lend its contents an aromatic scent. Pull it out when you feel you can use some of the herb's famous calming effect. 
• Place one or more under your pillow at night. Its relaxing aroma will help guide you to sleep.
•  Offer it as a gift to a loved one who is going through a difficult or stressful time, to keep close and breathe in the relaxing lavender aroma whenever they feel overwhelmed.
• Wrap one or two in your favorite woolen sweater before putting it away to protect it from wool-loving insects.
• Place one or more in a small ceramic, wooden or wicker bowl and feature it on a table or book shelf in your home for beauty and for calm.

Color options: Go ahead and chose the color you would like us to send you before you put the sachet in the cart. If you chose Multicolor we will send you a sachet with two colors. The primary color could be any of those listed (except for white) and the secondary color will be beige.

Tip: When you feel the scent is not very strong simply massage the sachet a little between your fingers. This action, crashing some of the buds, releases more aroma.
